Decentraland Set to Improve User Experience with New Desktop Client
Ethereum-based Metaverse platform Decentraland is preparing to launch a desktop client that promises to enhance graphics and performance, addressing criticisms of the current browser-based version.
Users can expect a more seamless Experience in the Virtual world with the upcoming update, as the desktop client is scheduled to enter public beta on October 22.
What to Expect from the Update
The new desktop client for Decentraland introduces enhanced visuals and improved in-Game mechanics. While maintaining its cartoon-like style, the updated version offers a higher level of detail, smoother animations, and a more dynamic environment. Performance has also been boosted, leading to faster frame rates and reduced loading times.
According to Agnieszka Besz, Engineering Manager for Decentraland, the desktop client now supports more concurrent users in the same space. With the ability to host over 200 avatars in one area without any issues, the updated client eliminates previous constraints that limited realms to 100 users.
This update signifies a shift in Decentraland's focus towards enhancing the social aspect of the platform. Developers plan to introduce features such as quests and badge systems to track player progress and encourage social interaction.
The upcoming three-day music festival in November will serve as a significant test of the platform's ability to handle large gatherings with its new capabilities.
Future Plans for Decentraland
While the focus is currently on the desktop client release, Decentraland is contemplating entry into the virtual reality (VR) space in the future.
The team sees VR as a way to offer a more immersive social experience but has emphasized that VR integration will only be pursued once the desktop version's performance is fully optimized.
At present, the desktop client represents a significant step in improving Decentraland's overall functionality and user experience. The public beta for both Mac and Windows users will be available on October 22.
